Filtration systems - systems engineering

There are a number of treatment processes in mechanical process engineering for the treatment of industrial or process water. Here, filtration is of great importance. Water and aqueous solutions that are contaminated with particles in the order of millimeters and micrometers can often be cleaned particularly economically by using gravel filters.

Gravel filters essentially consist of pressure tanks, which are filled with layers of quartz gravel of varying fineness. In addition, they have special installations that ensure an even distribution of the water to be purified in the filter.

Depending on the design of the gravel filter, particles of different sizes settle in the filter layer during the filtration process and are thus removed from the water flow. When a defined filter load is reached, determined by the pressure difference across the filter, the gravel filter must be backwashed. The dirt load is disposed of via the sewer.

The filter systems are equipped as standard with front piping made of PVC-U, variable area flow meters and valves to control the filtration volume flow and backwash volume flow..

One of the roots of GB Chembridge International in the design and manufacture of water treatment systems for swimming pools, where gravel filter systems have always been a core treatment process. Over the decades we have built up extraordinary expertise in the field of filtration systems, so that today we can advise our customers in a tailor-made way. Of course, we go beyond the use of quartz gravel and equip filter systems with granulated activated carbon or remove even the smallest particles efficiently by dosing flocculants.

Gravel filter systems often last for decades with professional maintenance. Weidner Wassertechnik therefore designs gravel filter systems individually in order to set up the most economical and efficient system for you. Make an appointment with us and we will be happy to advise you personally.

What we offer:

  • Tailor-made planning and construction of new plants
  • Customization through expansion modules
  • Decades of experience in the construction and operation of filtration systems

Expansion modules

Automatic backwashMicroprocessor control and pressure transmitter for automating the filter backwash when a preset maximum pressure difference is reached
Pneumatically controlled valvesPneumatic valves to control the filtration process especially in hazardous areas
Electrically controlled valvesElectrically controlled valves for high control accuracy or when there is no compressed air supply
Flocculant dosing stationPreparation station and dosing pump for flocculants to improve filtration performance
Microprocessor control with 7" displayControl and visualization of the filtration process when using appropriate measurement and control technology

Communication Interfaces

By using a microprocessor control, the filter systems can transmit measurement data to higher-level systems via all common communication protocols or be controlled by them. The following interfaces are available as expansion modules.

Modbus (TCP/RTU) | Profibus | Profinet | bacNET Gateway | FTP | SMTP (email)
Remote maintenanceNotification of fault messages via SMS
Cloud serviceTransmission of all measurement data to a cloud server for online evaluation and visualization of all relevant parameters

Special filter filling

Filter filling with activated carbonFilter filling made of granulated activated carbon to remove organic compounds or oxidizing substances
